X-Pole XPERT Pro Review: Specs, Finishes & Prices
The X-Pole XPERT Pro is the benchmark removable home dance pole. It comes in 40mm or 45mm and six finishes, loads from the bottom so you don’t need a ladder, and its X-LOCK collar switches between static and spin with a twist, no tools. Expect roughly $390–780 in the US depending on finish and retailer, or about £280–400 in the UK. X-Pole does not publish a maximum load.

What X-LOCK does
X-LOCK is a collar near the base of the pole. Turn it one way and the pole is static; turn it the other and it spins. No hex key is needed, so you can switch mid-session. It is the main difference from the older XPERT (NX), which uses a hex key, though X-Pole sells X-LOCK as an upgrade for XPERT and XPERT Pro poles made after 2014. The Pro also has a slimmer top dome.

Installing the XPERT Pro
X-Pole’s manual says to centre the top dome directly under a ceiling joist, avoid drop or suspended ceilings, tighten evenly and check the pole is vertical with a spirit level. Check tightness and the joints regularly while dancing. Our installation guide walks through it step by step.
Frequently asked questions
What is X-LOCK on the X-Pole XPERT Pro?
A collar near the base that switches the pole between static and spin with a twist, without tools. It replaces the hex-key switch on the older XPERT.
Is the XPERT Pro worth it over the XPERT?
If you switch modes often, many owners think so, because X-LOCK is tool-free. Otherwise the XPERT has the same core design, and X-LOCK can be added later as an upgrade.
What ceiling height does the XPERT Pro fit?
About 7’4″ to 9′ as standard (US listings quote 7’6″ to 9’1″), and up to about 11′ with extensions. Measure the exact spot where the pole will stand.
What diameter should I choose?
45mm suits most people and matches most studios and competitions. Choose 40mm for small hands. See our dance pole diameter guide.
How much does the X-Pole XPERT Pro cost?
In October 2026, US prices ranged from about $390 to $780 depending on finish and retailer, and UK prices from about £280 to £400.
What weight can the XPERT Pro hold?
X-Pole does not publish a maximum load for the XPERT Pro. Install it correctly under a joist and follow the manual.
