What Makes A Comfortable Pair Of Pole Dancing Shoes?
A number of things can make or break the comfort of a pair of pole dancing shoes. Factors such as what the shoes are made from, the height of the heel and the amount of cushioning in the sole of the shoes. How comfortable you find the shoes can also be affected by the fit and the presence or absence of ankle support.
Material
The most comfortable shoes are made from high-quality materials that are both breathable and flexible. Leather or synthetic leather are popular choices as they mold to your feet over time.
Heel height
Pole dancing shoes come in a range of heel heights. They vary between 6 and 10 inches in height.
9 and 10-inch heels have not been designed for dancing in. They are not for the faint-hearted. I can’t imagine they will be very comfortable for many dancers. They are designed for photo shoots and posing I am sure.
Many beginners find that 6-inch heels are perfect but soon progress to 7 or 8-inch heels.
I use 7-inch heels. I find them to be the best balance between height and being able to touch the floor with hamstrings that are a little tight.
Platform Sole
Those that select heels without a platform are unlikely to find them comfortable for pole dancing. The platform adds stability and comfort. It also reduces the overall size of the heel. Look for shoes and boots with a 3-4 inch platform. Ideally, they should have a rounded toe and some grip on the sole.
Ankle support
If you have weak ankles or find the platform sandals leave you wobbling around all over the place try some ankle boots. Boots provide stability for the ankles meaning that you will be more comfortable. Most pole dancers prefer pole dancing boots over sandals. But it depends on what look you are going for.
Cushioning
Top brands of pole shoes like Hella Heel and Pleaser have plenty of cushioning in the sole and ball of the foot. This helps to reduce impact during jumps and spins. The cushioning also keeps your feet happy whilst standing in them for a prolonged period of time.
Fit
