How We Research Pole Shoes

In short

We compare brand specifications, size charts, prices, return policies and customer and dancer reviews, then explain the trade-offs so you can choose with confidence. We do not claim to have tested products we have not tested, and every guide lists its sources.

What our guides are

Best Pole Dancing Shoes publishes research-based buying guides and review roundups for pole heels, boots, poles and accessories. We do not lab-test or wear-test every product we write about. Our model reviews say clearly that we have not tested the shoe, and we never describe research as hands-on testing.

Where our information comes from

  • Brand specifications and policies: heel and platform heights, materials, size charts, warranties and returns, taken from the brands’ own websites.
  • Retailer listings: current US and UK prices, colours and availability.
  • Customer reviews: ratings and recurring praise or complaints, read across several retailers rather than a single site.
  • Dancer and instructor guides: studio advice, pole forums and specialist shops.
  • Practical pole knowledge: where we add a practical tip from dancing ourselves, such as keeping buckles and metal eyelets away from the pole, we say so in the text.

Every guide lists its main sources at the bottom of the page.

What we look at

  • Fit and sizing: whole or half sizes, how styles run, wide-fit options.
  • Heel height and pitch: pitch (heel minus platform) affects comfort as much as the advertised height.
  • Grip and pole safety: materials that grip in leg holds, and no hardware that can scratch the pole.
  • Price and value in the US and UK.
  • Returns and warranty: how easy it is to swap a size that doesn’t fit.

Prices, ratings and updates

Prices and ratings are approximate figures observed on the date shown on each guide. They change often, and sale prices vary by colour, size and retailer, so check before you buy. We review our main guides regularly and update the date when we make changes.

How we make money

Some links are affiliate links, including Amazon Associates links. If you buy through them we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Commission does not decide which products we include, and we link to US and UK stores so you can buy locally.
